I think somewhere along the line the real story here has been forgotten or over looked. This guy was charged by the guy who was buying his deer. As I see it if the farmer selling doesn't have the tools, (darts, drugs, gun, knowledge) and someone buys his deer the buyer can work with the seller to get the job done.

They may agree to split the costs of the drugs and darts, or they may have worked out ahead of time who pays for the darts and drugs. But as I see it to charge for the act of darting the deer is down right bull crap and I would never do business with someone like that.

Hope your buyer changes his mind and makes it right you. When we at Apple Creek purchase stockers we pay half down and remainder when live delivery to ranch. This year over 18 trucks of bucks from local wi deer farmers. Please post who you had the problem with so others may not risk doing business with him.

Personally I think the person purchasing the deer should be responsible for the darting. For instance I dart all my own bucks. If I make a bad shot and injure or kill a buck I take responsibility of my actions. However we have to renegotiate if someone else kills a deer I am paying for.

I agree with Scott. You have been taken advantage of do not let this happen to others.
