:eek:We have fawns on the ground today. This is the earliest ever. So far I only found 1 doe fawn and it got dark on me. We are in Ohio, I sure hope the weather holds out, and stays warm. I was not expecting any until mid May. The fawn I found was good size and healthy. The fun is just begining.

Fawns on the ground.... some parts of Saskatchewan are forecast to get 10+ inches of snow tonight..... fawns are a month away

wow i cant believe how early, i've live bred for three years, ive never had a fawn before the 20th of May. hopefully it stays nice out your way, Last year I had 5 born on May 20 it was 38 degrees and pouring rain, the next moring 1 was dead, and one was in the early stages of pnemonia, luckily he pulled through, he is the one in my avatar.

I am in South east Columbiana County. we are on the edge of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. I was out tonight and I have another girl that is pretty much bagged up and her belly has dropped. She may be next.

The girl that had fawn yesterday, had triplets last year, and only a single this time. All is well, I tagged and vaccinated and was watching her nurse tonight. She is a good sized fawn.

All we can do is pray for good weather....... You never know in this part of the country, 80* one day and snowing the next....Keep our fingers crossed.

Does anyone hold out for second heat cycle when natural breeding to avoid early fawns? I bred 22 does in the same weekend on November 15th and 16th last fall.

I expect to find my first fawns (if all goes right) in the final days of May...last year it was so wet and cold I was sure we needed to make them hold out about as late as we could and still be able to wean around the first of September.

anyone else having new ones, I love the fawn threads, I look forward to them every year. I have one doe that is very close, her udder looks like its gonna pop. i watched the baby kicking inside her while she was at the feeder. Should be anyday now.

I had 2 Fireball buck fawns born Sat morning was hoping for doe but i will settle for bucks. I have them in the house right now starting them on bottle mother don't take care of her fawns very well. I got 18 more doe to go auta be a fun summer.

We had our first fawns Saturday evening. They are out of Maxbo Hardcore and a Reno/ Flees Heavy doe. The boys were a welcome sight. Hope to have some more this week. Good luck to everyone.

Not to be stupid - but what are the signs for knowing when the does are getting closer. This is our first time (less then 30 days) of being into deer farming. Our does that are bred are not tame so we can not get close to them. I have noticed they are getting bigger.

Full bag, walking fence lightly grunting, peeing alot, getting up and down, and licking butt.

Tall Tines, If you can get a look at them from behind with their tail up you should be able to see their udder. It will get quite abit larger as the time gets close. Also I have noticed right before fawning the doe gets kind of nervous acting. often moving away from the other does. She might start pacing the fence, bedding down then getting back up,appearing a little uncomfortable. If you look at their bellies the babies will often move down a little lower(a noticable sag) just before birthing. However with all this said I have seen fawns delivered by does showing few if any of these sighns. Its sometimes a surprise. Rick

here are one of 3 fawns on our farm so far. He is out of typhoon .
