I walked the pen this morning and buck fawn was one step behind mama everywhere she went.;) Problem solved. I can't imagine the anxiety of coming home and finding 5,6, or 8 fawns in the pen born on same day.:rolleyes::confused: My situation was easy and it was still hard!

Good point Jennifer on the possible adoptive mother. This one was easy because the aparent mother was a first time mom and the first fawning deer on the farm.

Congrats Rusty on your first fawns. Some mothers let you know RIGHT NOW it's their fawn, while others just want to be worrysome and make you figure it out. Good luck. Allen

We check the pens twice per day. If we find new fawns we look for the Mom, Give shots, microchip, collect DNA sample ear tag, weigh, take temp. load all info in GMS and return fawn to pen.

Best of luck out there. Hope all the fawning season continues along well for everyone!

I am checking pens about four times daily and have narrowed it down to two does. I have identified mother by sight but she looks exactly like (or closely enough to) the other doe that I can't tell what number is on her red sheepstar tag. Those red ones are hard to read in shaded settings. Not to worry because buck fawn was tailing mama this morning so I will know soon enough when I catch them in well lit feeder area with binocs.

Had our first fawns yesterday from a doe that I didn't get the CIDR in right last fall and she couldn't pee, so I pulled the CIDR and put her in with the breeder buck. Cidr was in 24 hours It has been 199 days since I pulled it. That little CIDR did a lot of work in two days. Twins a buck and a doe. Then this morning when I went out to pull the doe fawn to bottle feed I found a surprise. My favorite doe had just had twins from Lap AI @ 189 days. Dream Knockout Fawns from a U-Turn Doe. Got so excited I had to do a little dance. Hope the neighbors didn't see!!!!!

This is BS. We AI'ed Nov 24th, all does. No backup. NO fawns, no prebirth symtoms, guess I'll watch horns grow this year. Will probely have some milk replacer for sale this year. Not to mention its been 97 degrees the last two days, down here. The bucks have quit growing too. I'm just in a PISSED OFF mood this morning I guess.

Mitch, Rusty, DC, MP, Roger, ZZ, I NEED A PEP TALK!!!!!! or a poledancer"FEMALE".

No comment on that one.... :D

Sorry, to hear things didn't work out with the A/I. It happens to the best of em too - it comes with the territory, unfortunately.

I just hope the pole dancing video made ya laugh, as that's what it was intended to do...

Good luck and hang in there,

John

Reed,

I assume you know that you are at 188 days today. Most fawns arrive between 193-196 days. Very few arrive before 190 days. They still have a few days to bag up and fawn and still be in the norm for when you A.I.ed. I wouldn't lose hope yet!

How many did you A.I. - Good Luck!

Sam

I do have a couple that are bagging up, but in Oklahoma, we cant wait that long to AI. It is going to too hot, for birthing. I want to reach in and pull them out. "IM READY FOR MY BABIES":D.I had to wait to get on another farms schedule, we are usually done fawning by now. Looks like I need to call Apple Creek and get some Inseminaters. I'm not waiting his long anymore.

I'm sitting here watching icarly with McKenzie, and reading about all the fawns. We go to the pen and the little turds are just chewing thier cud. :eek:I'm tired of watching icarly and spongebob,:p I need them babies. I going to fing a drug to induce labor.

Sam, I know I'm just at 188, but its getting frustrating. Just bitching on a boring afternoon.:p

I have a P.J./Scar doe that is a least has triplets in her. She has to walk around her bag to walk. She has Moses's womb brother in her, soooooo P.J./Scar/Bucky/Highroller???????.

I have NEVER been more ready for fawns, than I am this year.

Apple Creek, I need 12 Inseminators for next year. And you need to hold a seminar in Texas, Maybe the TDA Hunters Extravaganza in FT Worth?

Dc, get thet thawing, and semen handling school at REI lined out.

I talked to Russell, and he said no more pictures could be posted until I get my fawns.:D Anywhere, that is for those that are going to send your pictures to my email.:D:p:D

You Know what Dennis, We AI'ed November 24th, and TB tested March 20-23. Do you think this affected it?

All of our does are early fawners, we are usually done by June 1, I was watching my good does come in a month before we AI'ed. The ones that stuck are the ones that always fawn late in May??????????

We still had 5 out of 9 stick.
