guy where do we start....and plz don't say NADefa...

Dennis,

I do commend you for your efforts. However I think we would be more successful by doing it through Nadefa or Pdfa. They are well educated on the laws on deer farms and will have much more leverage in a court case etc. than a handful of deer farmers. My advuce would be for all of us to contact Nadefa to see what we cam do to help.

Mark, I am fine with using either if this recourses I am just trying to see who is willing to pledge towards this fight.......we would need to know that 100 % of our contributions were going towards legal actions regarding this issue if we would use NADefa or pdfa.......

It should be pretty simple math.....1000 deer farms (100 from the top ten states) times an average of $100 each.....would be $100,000.00 a pretty decent retainer I would think, and a little cheap insurance for those of us in other states who haven't been directly affected.....yet.

Yep Todd.....but I wish we could get that support......and those are low ball numbers....100 dollars too fight for what yo love to do seems pretty sensible to me......

Todd i think said it best when he included our state associations. I know our WOL donated $20,000.00 to combat EHD through two states research. I only know cause i read about it in our fall newsletter, go figure. With that kind of spending towards a -BUG- im sure our state assoc. has the money to annie up towards a real cause!

Im am one of the new guys on the block.

But you can count on me for a $100.

I think it could be anyone from any state next.

We really need a way to reach out to all deer farmers. Most of them do not read them forums religously and many of the views are non members of the forum. Those farmers probably do not know of the latest case and the fed involvement.

What we need is a person from each State to make phone calls and solicit funds for this fight.........that's probably the only way you can get the word out to all the farmers......just a thought...

Count me in!

I also think it needs to be done through NADeFA, but the word needs to be spread to all deer farmers. We have so many resources to do so... newsletters, flyers, ads, Whitetail Exchange email blast, etc. If everyone in the industry would participate, then this fight could be HUGE!

Other than Freedom Whitetails, I haven't read any posts with actual facts about what's happening out there. Who has been effected and to what extent?

Daniel, I will let you know some facts I know, while keeping names confidential.

I know the guy that had his whole herd depopulated because of the positive that came up on Oct. 13. This guy had 10 deer left all were destroyed and he was not compensated, my ag lady told me he was not compensated. I i am trying to understand the ags need to destroy the herd, since their is no other way to test other than if they are dead. But Why, I just can't understand why, do they have the right to do so and NOT compensate the guy a dime. I just cannot understand why they are treating us like criminals for raising these deer, showing up with fire arms to destroy your herd, and not give you any sort of relief.

I bought a deer from this man, so Monday I was required by their laws to kill her for testing (I had the choice to kill her or they would bring someone in to kill her, I did not want them to come to my property with a firearm, so I did this, once again my expense)

After the kill, the ag lady took the head, put it in a bio hazard bag and had me sign a chain of custody form, then she to told me that I should bury the body!!) they don't take them. I had every urge to drive the body into their office and leave it in their parking lot, but I know that would only bring trouble upon myself. I showed a receipt for the doe I purchased on Sept 24, 2011 for $XXX (I will leave the price out for my privacy) but that means nothing,to them, I still get $000. I loved this doe and I felt she was a huge asset to my breeding herd. but now this plump healthy doe is gone for no good reason. I guess I see their need to test, it would just be so much less devasting to recieve at least some of my money I had in her.

I also know Freedom whitetails and what he is going through, he is being absolutely insulted by the ag, loosing his right to sell deer, because of someone elses mistake.

I also know of a quarantine situation someone else is dealing with that might top them all, but I must keep that quiet as I don't have all the details.

I know for those looking upon this situation from the outside, it may seem like we are all blowing this thing out of proportion, I been told to just deal with it and it will go away and things will get back to normal (mostly by people that are not deer farmers themselves) but if anyone on here has to deal with this directly it is very scary. I can see peoples right to own these animals being stripped away, this is very real. Be very thankful if you are not involved.

My ag lady told me more deer are going to die. Not even everyone has been contacted yet. They are eliminating/ quarantineing all the deer this guy sold off his farm in the last 5 years is what i was told, the doe that had CWD was only 3 years old, This is just beyond rediculous. Why! I hope this is not offical, maybe it is what they are planning, but this shows me they are going to start making up their own rules, that will only hurt us farmers.

I am not intending to start rumors, I am giving some information I have been told directly by ag personell or have witnessed for myself.

Thank you Antlershed. I appreciate you sharing your experience because as a relative newcomer to the industry, I have not been privy to facts. We all need to know what we are fighting against.

Anyone on the fence about pledging towards a fight for our right to deer farm ...just talk to antlershed....he will give you many good reasons we need this fight......come on let's unite and fight these people.....like I said I don't care if it goes through NADefa....as long as they can guarantee every dime we pledge towards this particular issue goes towards it.......I am not sure they can do that? anyhow, who ever it is we decide on will be just that....the decision (popular vote) of those willing to pledge some funds towards this....please consider pledging......

Thank you everyone who has pledged so far .....this is what we need....let me ask those of you who have not pledged ....could you please just say why? I just can't figure out why you wouldn't want to fight for what you love to do....maybe I am missing something....I am sure I am......just enlighten me ......please.....
