I don't personally know all of the folks running for the board this year. However I do serve on the DBC board with Vickie Hughes and would love to give her 2 thumbs up. Of all the boards I have served on Vickie is possibly the hardest working board member I have seen. She takes your trust very seriously and I hope you will all vote for her.

Thanks,

Tim Condict

Tim, I don't know a lot of the candidates either. But I have a question for the board? Why did the board refuse Charly Seale's nomination for the board of directors? He is probably the most qualified farmer out there! The deer industry will be, and is, going through the biggest crisis in the industries life in the next year or two - The new Federal Rules!

For all the deer farmers out there that aren't paying attention to what's going on in Washington and several of the states listen up.

Charly was the leading force out there to stop the "stupid" Federal rules that would have put a lot of deer farmers out of business, and would have burdened the rest of us. He led, and is helping to lead the effort to change the rules, to make it better for farming deer. The next time you see Charly at an event, go up to him and give him a big thank-you. He has done more for us deer famers than most of you will ever know. To reward him, the NADEFA board refused his nomination?

Federal Rules------Where was NADEFA? There has been to many "yes" people on the board for too many years. Being too passive all these years, allowed the health agencies to regulate us out of business. Maybe it's about time NADEFA draws a line in the sand, and tells the board of health " NO MORE RULES"!!!

NADEFA needs to be more open and listen to input by it's members. I have asked the office and a couple of officers when the General Membership Meeting is? No response. Tim, I will ask you, when is it? Will we see a financial report at this meeting? Input by the membership and transparency only makes NADEFA stronger. If members think the wool is being pulled over their eyes, and they don't have input, the outlook for NADEFA will be bleak.

I for one put my name in the hat. Why? Because i also believe many things need to be changed. I have not been in long enough to know the past but i sure want to be here for the future.

I may be wrong but i noticed there were 4 people on the list that have been on the board for the last 3 years. I think there are enough people in the deer business that there should be a change in arms every 3 years so we can have some new ideas and everyone can learn more about a different part of the deer business.

I dont know why Charly would be denied a seat as i have seen his name in many problem areas as of late. Im sure someone has an answer!

Mike if you get on the board, wouldn't you want the financials open to the membership, and have an open general membership meetings for the members? Mike, ask a director the same questions I have asked here. See what you get for a response. Do you think my requests or comments where out of line?

I believe they should just as our Ny books are open for any member to see. A membership meeting maybe should be done at NADEFA as thats probably the only place the most members would be at one time.

I do not think you are out of line and i hope you get an answer to your questions. I know reguardless who leads what or who sits where, If everyone is not wide open with.. EVERYTHING.. and all on the same road we could be in for a real hard blow!

I think Charlie has done an excellent job fighting for Deerfarmers ! I would have thought he would have been a no brainier for the Nadefa board!

Can honestly say I don't know anything about this situation, but maybe someone felt he already had a full plate and didn't have the time to devote to this. Like someone said, they see his name a lot already. It is good to get new people with fresh perspectives and new ideas too.

Might this be better discussed on the "Members Only" forum? Valid discussion, possibly not the best place for it...

I'm sure Charlie ......does have a lot on his plate! Good point Wild Rivers and I don't know how you know if someone is rejected either?

New blood is a Welcome in any setting I have always said fresh ideas and perspective often helps ........but is not always welcomed with open arms!

I talked to Charly at the Top 30. He applied/filed to run as per bylaws. He told me he was rejected. Shouldn't it be his call if he wants to put the time in?

Its Okay to have this all said on this page. It seems that none of you guys are at the NADeFA conference. There is always an P&L and a membership meeting. I have never been to one that there wasn't. I have been on the board several years and seen the association changes that the people who don't do the work would not believe. However: I too believe in new people and thats why I turned down my nomination. As for Charly, I also believe him to be a great asset to our industry and has worked tirelessly to promote and protect it. I am a team player and support the decision that was made. Our board did not feel comfortable with an Executive Director from another association being on the board. I would think EWA would not want Shawn Schafer on their board. It's never as sinister as everyone wants it to be.

Thank you for your response Tim. I have been at the conference in the past and have donated to NADEFA. As a director of our state association I have been asked the same questions I am asking. I feel it's in my fiduciary duty to get the answers for my members otherwise what kind of board member am I ?

Gary

Why not at the Annual General Membership meeting that is supposed to be held as Gary Mentioned. Where we as Members and Farmers can listen and voice opinions. Gary I agree with you that Charly Seale would have been a POSITIVE addition to OUR board.

Tim.... Why not let NADEFA MEMBERSHIP decide on Charly. In you own words......." I also believe him to be an asset to our industry and has worked tirelessly to promote and protect it."......Then you supported a decision that you do not agree with?? Just to be a team player??

I also think Charly Seale would have been a great addition to the NADeFA board and I don't see why there should be any conflict of interest. That kind of decision should be up to the members. Charly and Laurie have given thousands of hours of their time and paid their own expenses to keep all of us in business. This is how we repay them?

Its not like Charly would be working for NADeFA and PeTA!! He is working for two different organizations that promote high fence! I was appalled when I heard this at the Top 30. I really don't see the conflict! I support Charly and feel that he is one of the biggest assets that the deer industry has. Now we lost him for NADeFA........... Bad for Deer Farming
