NADeFA Election

Nadefa works thier butt off for the industry as a whole and many things still fall through the cracks to the states to fend for themselves. Understandable. Wisconsin knows this better than any state.

But the two major issues that get cruized over by how hard everyone works are FINANCIAL TRANSPERANCY and Charly's denial! Wisconsin has been asking for a detailed financial record as long as I have been on our board(6-8 years) and we got a copy of the pie chart bs,that doesn't cut it. We have since stopped our commitment of state aid to NAdeFa as have many other states with this being one of the causes and still $7500 a year not worth a detailed report! Frankly we just gave up. We can change the bylaws if enough people want to see the change. Lets see some details on where the money is being spent and we will all be back in the room supporting the fundraiser and be united again. In Wisconsin we do a generic treasurer's report for the newsletter but if anyone wants to see where every penny of our money goes you just call Seth Bauer and you will see one detailed document that accounts for every penny broken out. Not staff: 44% of whatever.I sure hope this can happen then we all unite, beat this BS rules and standards and go on to all make a fair amount of money for our products. Hopefully, I didnt step on anyone's new pedicure here. "It's the way we have always done it before" should not be acceptable any longer.

I agree with most of the posts here pertaining to Charly. I do believe that Nadefa works very hard to preserve our rights, and by now I'm sure that the board realizes what an oversight that they have made in this matter.

There has always been and always will be folks that are impatient and uninformed of all the issues that face us everyday in this industry. That is why we see the aca and other similar groups fire up from time to time. They (in my opinion) are folks wanting to see more bang for their buck and less regulation, and I am one as well. I think if nadefa had given Charly the opportunity to serve on the board, alot of folks would had been at ease, and this industry could have enjoyed some unity!

You nailed it James! I'm having a very hard time swallowing the denial for Charly to run.

Hope to see you at the convention either way. Miss ya buddy!

I guess i am missing the boat. If Charly is a paid board member of EWA and working from that board how are we not all working for the same goal? If Shawn has to take his direction from the board to do whatever task it is and someone is sitting on that board that is also on another board thinks he should head in the direction that the other board is taking then something could be missing.

I see groups like NADEFA, NAEBA, EWA and now ACA all fighting with good educated people all for the same cause. That sounds united to me.

Not any one group is going to change things! Untill they accept CWD for what it really is we will be on the defensive. What really blows my mind is this elk move they have in the works. With these elk coming out of a CWD area this guy says.

"We don't know exactly what's going to happen when these elk go out," he said.

"But we think the benefit of this project far outweigh any detriments we might see."

Mike since my ballot is on its way from the NADEFA office and I as of yet have not made my mind up as to who I will all support I would like to ask you a candidate, what is your stance on supplying the members with a detailed report of where the monies are spent? Also what is your position on whether or not Charly should have been allowed to be a candidate? What is your position on the schedule of events as it pertain directly to the amount if time allocated to the membership meeting?

Thank you for your anticipated response and for your offering to be a board member.

I Got a call about my post and I said I would clarify:

I did not mean that Charly is in denial about financial transperancy, he would admit it if he had this issue(LOL). I meant Charly being denied the oportunity to run as a board canidate. The other point was Nadefa is not as open about thier books as they should be!

LOL! I suppose someone could misread that.

Personally I think Charly is in denial. He desperately wants to be a hardcore, dyed in the wool Packer fan! LOL

1. I do believe there should be an open book for all to see when it comes to membership money! If that has not been the norm i believe changes should be made so it is!

2. I dont believe i can answer that one with a true honest answer. I do not know Charly, Have never met the man but have heard many, many good things he has done for the industry. I do not know enough about the board he sits on or NADEFA for that matter but if he is a paid member of another board i can see where there could be issues. I would also say that if this is the stance that NADEFA is going to hold, Such as serving on 2 boards. It needs to be put in the bylaws!

3. The way i see it we are there for 4 days havin fun, Drinking a few drinks with friends and talking about deer untill your blue in the face so i think a membership meeting should go untill 1 All members have been givin time to ask questions and air out any problem that they may need an answer.2 Untill it get to heated or out of hand as to the point where it is doing no good to stay in a meeting. We are not going anywhere so there should be plenty of time!

Hope that helps ya a bit. I will say probably every other name on that paper knows more about the industry and has been in deer alot longer than i have but that is not always a good thing. I do not believe a person should be on the board any longer than a 3 year term! There are to many people in the deer industry and there never should be a shortage of names on the docket every year. How does the saying go..If your are not part of the solution maybe you are part of the problem.

Stepheck, I don't know who you are but I actually agree with you. We have to have fun events and time set aside for booth visitation but we should meet until its over. I will add that we only started having those meetings during lunch because no-one was coming to the meetings when it wasn't then. I guess that means people are more concerned with eating than meeting. Ha Trust me when I tell you guys that this is not the toughest it's ever been for the industry. I know for people like the Brakke's it is and I feel for them and would do anything to help. Ideas are what we need and I always have mine and sometimes I think people may wish I had less of them.

I stayed after lunch for the meeting to see what kind of question and answer session would take place. Lasted about 10 minutes max. No money questions, No federal rule questions, Not alot of issues out there i guess! Sure hope the corn hole game is a hit.
