Ohio Sale

Great input! Hopefully some of these auction company are paying attention.

I just recieved the catalog from the Cervidae group out of Indiana and see that it does have a sale the same day as Midwest sales. Not sure what they are thinking. Doesn't seem to be a good thing for the industry as a whole. I guess if they make a buck their happy but I dont see the consignors being to happy in the end!

Hopefully I'm wrong here????????????

I gotta get this off my chest. I bought a bred doe at the Great Lakes Classic in indiana. I was on the internet. Ends up that the buck I wanted to bred it to was already sold and the seller told everyone at the auction, Listening to the auction sounded like old charlie browns teacher. Couldnt understand anything or know who was talking. then........my agreement, which was ok'd by the person on the other end of the computer was never related to the seller?????????? then again.............the auction organizer calls looking for his $$$. I had already sent it..but, they wanted more than i agreed to. Not wanting to back out of the deal at this point but What a fiasco. Now I understand why the Great Lakes Classic was a FLOP, poorly organized, NO preparation, and by the way I think It is imperative that the auction organizer should know something about pedigrees, how many mistakes did you count??? Yea I'm pi*%ed off.

Jim I agree with you on the audio on that auction. I couldn't hear half of what was being said. Then when they started refusing bids and dickering for a few more dollars I logged off. They might as well list it in the classified if they have a set price and not take it to the auction at all. A real dissapointment. Rick

Well, James Hail called me today and of course when you get 2 brilliant minds together something brilliant comes out of it. Anyway we decided to start us an auction company. We are going to cater to the lower end fellows. We are going to have 2 sales a year. THE BOTTOM 30 AND THE UN SELECTED SALE. OF COURSE THE BOTTOM 30 WILL BE PREEMPTED BY THE BOTTOM SELECT 30. We will be taking consignments soon. Theres alot of terrible deer already consigned so be sure to send your worst possible consignments. Be sure to include the deer noone would want as this will be a tough sale to get in. Of course the 5 lowest selling consignors will recieve an automatic invitation to next years sale. Be sure to include all the worst traits of your deer in the comments. Example: This doe has produced 6 four year old spikes. Been crossed with some of the highest scoring deer in the country and hasn't produced yet! Thats the kind of stuff we will be looking for. Example # 2: This buck has never had very good semen and usually only covers about 25% of exposed does. His parents were also terrible producers and most will have tough meat before they have forked antlers. At the Unselect Sale we will have a traveling trophy for the lowest seller and we promise not to advertise their farm or name. Crippled animals are definately a bonus. Three legs, blind, athritis and very wild are all pluses.

We promise to pay late, have bad auctioneers, bad attitudes and no food. The hotels will be crappy and people will be bragging because their deer went cheap. We know their will be some complainers, saying their lots sold to high, or they stayed on my lot to long, but you can't please everyone. Any other ideas anyone could come up with to help us would be appreciated. PLEASE TAKE THIS IN THE SPIRIT IT WAS MEANT. ONLY TO BE FUNNY. INTERESTING WHAT TWO IDIOTS CAN COME UP WITH IN A DEER PEN HUH. THIS WAS NOT A RESPONSE TO ANY OTHER POSTS. IT IS ONLY A JOKE. Any additions to this will be considered in good fun. So please feel free to jump in with all bad ideas.

Hey Tim, you forgot to mention, that anyone caught using a growth inhibitor WILL BE disqualified from the sale or any future sale. And let's don't forget that all sales may not be final!

Tim-

I would also include "worst chance of getting AI to stick" or "fat chance DNA is coming back on that one categories". I also like the exagerrated score category for the "worst shooter buck category", which should be divided into "most ribs able to count," and "narrowest buck".

Just trying to help out to make your sale the worst in history!

Good Luck!

Dustin

I have a doe I would like to add for the bottom 30. I think she should be the best of the best. She is 3 years old, carries a set of spikes, will not breed, and loves to crash the fence. Oh did I mention that my farm is in Indiana but she is in Michigan. Make sure you list my Indiana farm. The doe is 1 year CWD with no tb or Brus testing. Thanks so much for adding my doe.....................LOL. I hope this is taken in good fun.

This thread had me laughing so hard ...................

I also have a doe. I think she is northern but she could be southern. I will sell her with DNA guarantee as long as you don't check. She is in good health except she has only 3 legs, constantly drools, and always has the scours. I think she is 6-10 years old and I don't remember where I got her. I don't know what she produces as none of her fawns have ever lived. This was fun. Good luck and god bless

I have this monster buck that I would like to consign. I purchased him as a fawn at one of the top auctions, but cant remember which one, and he was one of auctions select animals. His father is one of the best bloodlines in the world bred to a doe that has a very large ship anchor for the anchor doe. I also have a folder as thick as a dictionary including all the pictures of his ancestors for 400 generations.

This buck will surely show his poop in your pens and if another doe lays in it, it will surely pass it on to her and her offspring.

Please see the attached picture of him at 3 years old. I would include a pedigree but it is so deep, you would need a second catalog just to fit it all in. :D

John... I have been working my up to that for years now!!!!

I'm not there yet... but this buck should bring a pretty penny...

I just need to know which catagory to put him in breeder? or Shooter?....

Either way he should bring great money.

There is no way a photo can show how bad he truly sucks... but I will keep trying.

John that was funny stuff there.......hey i see you have your trail cam out that must be the monster buck you are after for this archery season.....you better learn his pattern before someone else gets him before you!!:D;):p

I have a breeder buck i wouldn't mind putting in your sale.......he has always been a button buck we had him casterated when he was young he is 12 years old now.........he does not produce well in fact we have no fawns from him (Might have something to do with being casterated not sure)but hey maybe you will get the first fawn.......he has no hair so needs to be kept inside in the winter.....(Inside meaning your house) he is not potty trained but only goes to the bathroom four differnt times a day.......he lost his teeth at an early age and needs to be tube fed daily but hey .....atleast he won't chew your furniture....oh he does get goofy during the rut but it don't hurt to bad he only has buttons ....plus since he will be in your house you can always shut him in a room when he gets moody he shouldn't trash it to bad..... we throw the dog in with him and that keeps him busy for a while........he comes with all the tubes and bottles.......good luck bidding he should go quick that is if he doesn't die first. heck we will even throw the dog in as an added bonus!

Heck, I thought I was funny. You guys take it hands down. I have a doe I am going to put in. Being its mine and James's sale I'm sure she will get in. First of all her name is Billy Ray. She got her name because she has a terrible underbite just like Billy Ray Cyrus. However she doesn't do as well on Achy Breaky Heart. She eats alot and always has triplets. She doesn't milk so you must bottle feed them. They all die at about weining time to maximize your expense.(except last year when the fawns died in her. I had to keep her up and pull them 1 hair at a time, and spend lots on meds) She also has a high suceptibility to Bluetongue and you can bank on loading her with lots of Draxxin every fall. I was gonna put Her/Him(its name) in the sale but he/she got killed fighting a wild morphidite through the fence. Isn't that the way it goes, the sorriest ones always get killed. I feel slighted that Billy Ray may not bring as little as Her/Him woulda.

Tim, you could'nt have put Herm in the auction, Why, you ask? Because, as you know I am on the panel of judges, and I had seen that deer before it died. If my memory serves me correctly, Herm had longer tines, more mass, and to much inside spread. I believe John Swank knows what we are looking for! But I will admit we are looking for Herm's pass-down traits!
