-- The massive rack of what could be the largest 8-pointer ever has been seized by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the Cannon Falls, Minn., man who shot it has been charged with poaching.
Spurred by calls from neighbors, Minnesota conservation officers confronted 32-year-old Troy Alan Reinke, who they say admitted he’d shot three deer this fall with his bow, but checked in and tagged only the last one – an 8-pointer that reportedly grosses almost 190 inches.

According to the DNR, Reinke said he’d shot a small doe and a young buck on separate dates in early October, and failed to tag or register either of the deer. He shot the big 4x4 on Halloween evening.
The department has seized the bow, both sets of antlers, all venison and the big buck’s cape.
Restitution for the small buck and doe is $500 each, $1,000 for the “trophy buck.” If convicted on the various counts, Reinke will also face other fines and court costs, and his hunting privileges could be revoked for three years.
A trial date has not been set.
