The day has come...

Thats Cool Mark....thanks...... have a tendency to read things wrong...that's why I said I may have read it wrong......LOL.......I am just so stinking fired up after doing the TB testing and with the second round to come on Tuesday..uuuuugh.......it is so unnecessary to put these animals through this and I JUST HATE IT.........something has to give.....and I am afraid it's going to be us.....I hope I'm wrong!

Dennis - I'm selling deer this week. Darting them...scoring them...loading them up...and receiving a check.

Scoring...kinda fun. Loading them...no problems. Receiving a check, as long as it goes past your feed bill...reason for dancing naked in the street!

But that ''darting them''...hard horned bucks when those hard horned bucks do not want you to dart them and are in with others, and you have to referee as one is going down to make sure he does not get gored...getting deeper in the pen to accomplish this hence cranking up the evasive action/stress on who is left to dart...well, let's just say, it is the most INTENSE day out of my life each year.

So Dennis, to do what you did and have to dart all to test all...wouldn't wish that on anybody. My heart starts thumping every time my dart rifle clears the case.

Best of luck to all this fall. Get out there and suck some of this autumn weather up!

this is a buch of crap that the feds started years ago in the thidys...how do i know, back when teddy roosevelt was president he made a deer trade deal with japan.he traded elk for siki deer to cross with his elk an start a new elk breed cause he was just like us.,he loved tinkering with deer.these deer also brought in cwd to unitedstates from japan with the trade. it`s there problem and they want us to pay for it.they want to put us all out of business...how come the deer, elk an bufflo in the wild parks out west all have cwd, is that our fault. that proofs that cwd came in from the wild.

Rubbish,Cervus nippon in Japan have never tested positive for CWD or any other prion disease.

CWD in bison??

Start educating yourselves, as knowledge will be your defence & weapon.

Stick to the facts please.

??????????

Frankly I don't care where CWD came from. Japan, copper imbalance, Mother Nature, or if some mountain man 100 years ago tied a doe to a tree and has way with her. CWD is nothing more that HYPE and POLITICS! A Federal Dept of Ag Vet himself even told me that deer growers got caught in the crossfire. Hopefully someday they will all come to their senses and release the death grip on our industry. Science be damned!!!

What we need is a reasoned approach to CWD. For example, OK, you have a CWD positive on your farm. How about you can then only move deer to other farms who have had a positive OR to a hunt facility where the only way deer leave is dead! Now that would make more sense than running in and shooting everything in sight, all which may be perfectly healthy. They certainly can't shoot every deer in the wild that MAY have CWD - which would be everything in any state that has it in the wild. So why should we have to???? Just because it's possible???? That doesn't make any sense.

We need to unite as I have stated before...unite as an industry and start playing a little Offense instead of just defense!! This is the only way we will come to a common ground....just as the beef industry had to do with Mad Cow....now they are WAY bigger than us but so is their problem because MAD Cow can be transmitted to humans........where as to date they have no proof nor do they believe CWD can be......It's time to stand up for what we know is right.........and for what we know is NOT right like putting our animals through all of this unnecessary testing.........we need to find a common ground that is fair to everyone.....cause right now it certainly isn't very fair to all of us or our animals!

We need to put forth an alternative to the current policy of kill, kill, kill. Something we can live with and stay in business. Something like we suggested.

The CWD found in Korea originated in Nth America.

Raising this isn't going to support your argument, just the inverse.

Need to be thinking about abatement actions for this disease instead of finger pointing. This goes for all the different groups including QDMA.

Cheers Sharkey

Not my argument one way or another just merely pointing out it is found in Asia.

I believe we need to test our animals. I dont have a problem with tb testing. Its a pain yes and we lose animals but that proves to all nay sayes that we have unhealthy animals runnin around in our pens!

Now the cwd that is also a test that should be done because it is out there

( Pen and wild) and we need to deal with it. The problem is i believe they use it to keep jobs for many that would not have them if they didnt find a case every now and again. They know it takes 3 to 5 years for it to show effects in a deer that has it and they also know that most deer in most states are killed(pen and wild) by the time they reach that age.

Most of the pics that they show from deer with cwd are like years and years old and some are even intest pens that they infected the deer and just sat back and watched them age with it and watched what happened to the deer.

Maybe if we get new people in the white house that have a clue as to whats going on we might get somewhere but to do that we first need to get the loosers out that are in there now!!

Mike I will agree with the very last sentence in your post FOR SURE... but everything else....you are wrong...sorry......if you have any respect for your animals you raise you would fight to have this excessive testing banned or at the very least researched so it is not so evasive on our Whitetails....I am sorry but in this world we live in..... there has got to be with out a doubt a better way to test these animals than what we have to go through not to mention the poor animals......I am going to wake up bright an early tomorrow to go stress the crap out of my herd for a second time.......let's see.....deer hitting the fence (and you can say yours are tame and don't hit the fence...well when they learn the gun it don't matter!)... darts sticking half way in the deer, bucks that don't want to go down beating the crap out of others that are knocked out...just to mention a few things I have to look forward too in the morning......come on!!! are you kidding me!! You think this is ok?!! I think Not!

No disrespect( I think) but if you have all that crap goin on while you are testing your deer, Whatever the problem is you are bringing on yourself. It sounds like you need a different kind of setup to test your deer.

If we dont test then you will have people comin at you because of that and you wont have deer to wory about! Sucks yes and i sure dont like it either but it proves to all that we have a legit business going on. We dont carry diseases in our penned deer.

Mike I believe we have never made any headway with the public that are deer are healthy by testing. Fact is we have never proved anything to the health people or the DNR. The health people don't usually stand up to the DNR, at least not in Montana. We have tested the crap out of our herds both for CWD and TB and at least every week when I talk to people on the road looking at my animals someone will say they sure don't look sick. They expect them to be sick from all the bad press we get from the DNR and wildlife people. Our industry has never taken our fight to the public to offset the bad press from DNR. I have preached the fact we need to educate the public as they are the ones that can turn on us when we have a CWD positive. Our bad that is for sure. As soon as a CWD is found on a game farm that State's critics and DNR takes it to the press for more regulation on the game farm, no more harvest facilities, no more new game farms. Laws are put in effect and we have another Montana. Montana lost all these things when a case of CWD was found. I see every State waits till a CWD positive is found and they know one will be found sooner or later in every States game farm and this agenda is what they wait for to crush the industry in that State. This industry is going on the defensive I'm told to try to stop this behavior from States and educiate the public. All I can say is it's about time this industry took the fight to the public.

We have tried for the past year and a half with our TV show to educate the public about what we do - so does Keith Warren. We almost never get any negative feedback, so hopefully it is working.
