My wife and I teach a young adults class every Wednesday evening at our church, it is very rewarding to see them finally get it after years of living in the world. My wife was also the youth pastor for many years and had seen issues arise from within church families so if you think just because you attend church you are safe, you are wrong. Now my wife is the community pastor and is dealing with so much more, I wonder how she deals with this herself. Now she is batteling cancer on top of it all.

I am not real good at this religion stuff but I try and do my part. Today I got an email and here is what it all said. I thought it was cute.

KIDS IN CHURCH

3-year-old Reese :

'Our Father, Who does art in heaven,

Harold is His name.

Amen.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little boy was overheard praying:
'Lord, if you can't make me a better boy, don't worry about it.
I'm having a real good time like I am.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After the christening of his baby brother in church,

Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car.

His father asked him three times what was wrong.

Finally, the boy replied,

'That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home,

and I wanted to stay with you guys.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One particular four-year-old prayed,
'And forgive us our trash baskets
as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets.'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they

were on the way to church service,

'And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?'

One bright little girl replied,

'Because people are sleeping.'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3
The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake.
Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson..
'If Jesus were sitting here, He would say,
'Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.'
Kevin turned to his younger brother and said,
' Ryan , you be Jesus !'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A father was at the beach with his children

when the four-year-old son ran up to him,

grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore

where a seagull lay dead in the sand..

'Daddy, what happened to him?' the son asked.

'He died and went to Heaven,' the Dad replied.

The boy thought a moment and then said,

'Did God throw him back down?'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A wife invited some people to dinner.
At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said,
'Would you like to say the blessing?'
'I wouldn't know what to say,' the girl replied.
'Just say what you hear Mommy say,' the wife answered.
The daughter bowed her head and said,
'Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?'
A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip
to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies
and a six pack of root beer and he started his journey. When
he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She
was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons.
The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He
was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed
that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a Twinkie.
She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was
so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered
her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was
delighted.
They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they
never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he
got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few
steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and
gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short
time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his
face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you
so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before
his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's
got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned
to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on
her face and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that
made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the
park with God." However, before her son responded, she
added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile,
a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the
smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn
a life around.
People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a
lifetime. Embrace all equally!
Hey Roger since you do not claim to be real good at this religious stuff and since this is the fellowship forum, and I like you, I would like to try to help you, maybe you already have this taken care of but if not please read
First Read John 3:16 For God so Loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Second: Romans 3:23 For ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God
Roman 6:23 For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
Third: Romans 10;9-10 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Fourth: Ephesians 2:8-9 8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9Not of works, lest any man should boast
Now a question for everyone if you had to put a scale on it,... On a scale of 1-10 what are your chances of getting into Heaven...... ought to make this a survey question on here answers might be interesting...
Thanks Rick.
On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being for sure going to Heaven. I will take 9 for me.
I believe in God.
I trust that what God gives me, and what he doesn't give me is right.
I do think of him at times other than when I need something.
I am not so arrogant as to think that my success comes by my own hand.
I am not a perfect person but God is the ultimate at forgiving.
I don't say a 10 because I have to remain humble and remember that God still calls the shots.
When I say I am not good at this religion stuff I just mean I am not studied at it like some are. And I choose to be more humble in my beliefs than some as well.
Roger
Great comments and answer, a 9 is pretty good and better than most would give them selves, but I would like to say that you can bump that up to a 10 and know for sure with 100 confidence that you will spend eternity in heaven, God does not want anyone to wonder or worry about where they will spend sternity.
I did not answer my own question but I will now, on a scale of 1-10 I know that I am a 10 and it has nothing to do with anything that I have done in my own life as I am a sinner and bound for hell with the exception that i have excepted the gift mentioned in the verses of my previous post. When God looks at me he no longer see's my filthy sinful self but he now see's the Blood of Christ and in Gods eyes I am now as rightious as Christ, this is what it takes to get to heaven. Remeber I am still a sinner and am unrightious but because of the perfect sinless sacrifice of Jesus dieing on the cross and his blood being spilt or shed, when I do what Romans 10: 9-10 says his blood then covers me and that is what God now sees, otherwise Christ would not have had to die, but it took a perfect blood sacrifice to allow for any of us to enter into heaven,
Love ya Roger just wanted you to know how i felt about some of this but even more try to back it up with scripture which is Gods Word to you and me
Yes, Jesus came into this world as a Baby. As we prepare to celebrate His Birth, we do well to reflect on the Greatest Truth: Jesus Christ came to save the whole of humanity, including you and me.
THE (SCIENTIFIC) DEATH OF JESUS
At the age of 33, Jesus was condemned to the death penalty. At the time crucifixion was the "worst" death. Only the worst criminals condemned were crucified. Yet it was even more dreadful for Jesus, unlike other criminals condemned to death by crucifixtion, Jesus was to be nailed to the cross by His hands and feet.
Each nail was 6 to 8 inches long.
The nails were driven into His wrist, not into His palms as is commonly believed. There's a tendon in the wrist that extends to the shoulder. The Roman guards knew that when the nails were being hammered into the wrist, that tendon would tear and break, forcing Jesus to use the muscles in His back to support himself so that He could breath.
Both of His feet were nailed together. Thus He was forced to support Himself on the single nail that impaled His feet to the cross. Jesus could not support himself with His legs because of the pain, so He was forced to alternate between arching His back then using his legs just to continue to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the suffering, the courage.
Jesus endured this reality for over 3 hours.
Yes, over 3 hours! Can you imagine this kind of suffering? A few minutes before He died, Jesus stopped bleeding. He was simply pouring water from his wounds.
From common images we see wounds to His hands and feet and even the spear wound to His side. But do we realize His wounds were actually made in his body. A hammer driving large nails through the wrist, the feet overlapped and an even large nail hammered through the arches, then a Roman guard piercing His side with a spear. But before the nails and the spear, Jesus was whipped and beaten. The whipping was so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. The beating so horrific that His face was torn and his beard ripped from His face. The crown of thorns cut deeply into His scalp. Most men would not have survived this torture.
He had no more blood to bleed out, only water poured from His wounds.
The human adult body contains about 3.5 litres (just less than a gallon) of blood.
Jesus poured all 3.5 litres of his blood; He had three nails hammered into his members; a crown of thorns on his head and, beyond that, a Roman soldier who stabbed a spear into his chest.
All these without mentioning the humiliation that He passed after carrying his own cross for almost 2 kilometers, while the crowd spat in his face and threw stones (the cross weighed almost 30 kg, just the top part, where his hands were nailed).
Jesus had to endure this experience, so that you can have free access to God, so that your sins could be "washed" away. All of them, with no exception! Just think about that. JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOU! For you, who now read this. Do not believe that He only died for others (those who go to church or for pastors, bishops, etc).
He died for you!
Accept the reality, the truth that JESUS IS THE ONLY SALVATION FOR THE WORLD.
For the next few moments, take the opportunity to ask this Jesus to reveal Himself and His love to you.
God has plans for you.
Rick good quote and question. Makes one search as to how we believe.
All of mankind was born into sin but all are destined to heaven who believe in the blood of Christ. The cross of Christ is the center peace to all who believe. God in Christ stretched out His arms to the world and said I forgive you. All He ask is we love Him and love others. And know the greatest application of love is forgiveness. The same unconditional forgiveness portrayed on the cross. All who have a relationship with the Trinity and forgive are destined for heaven.
Some might say “if I am forgiven then all are going to heaven“.
Forgiveness does not establish relationship
And those who have a true relationship learn to forgive as Christ did.
