Father’s Day Prayer

Lord, please bless our fathers,

these men who mean so much to us,

who are greatly responsible

for who we are and who we are becoming.

Bless them for having the courage

to do what’s necessary to keep us out of trouble,

for making us do the right thing,

for helping us build our character,

even when it makes us angry;

and bless them for pushing us to do our best,

even when they just want to love us.

Bless our fathers for being our protectors,

for leading us through stormy times to safety,

for making us believe that everything will be all right

and for making it so.

Bless our fathers for quietly making a living

to provide for those they love most,

for giving us food, clothing, shelter

and the other material things that really matter,

for unselfishly investing time and money in us

that they could have spent on themselves.

Bless our fathers, Lord,

for saving some energy for fun,

for leading us on adventures

to explore the outer reaches of ourselves,

for making us laugh,

for being our playmates and our friends.

Bless them for being our secure foundation, our rock,

for holding on tight to us...until it’s time to let us go.

Lord, bless these men we look up to,

our role models, our heroes,

our fathers.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

An Old Irish Blessing

May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

I don't ask many questions on this forum, and I don't ask for help much, but I have a request please.

My cousin, who is a great friend of mine needs your prayers please. He stopped deer farming back about 6 or so years ago. But he was in deer back over 30 years ago. He is truly one of the old timers. From his time serving 2 tours in Vietnam, and from the extensive injuries he sustained there along with the exposure to agent orange he has had a hard life. He had esophageal cancer and they removed his esophagus after having under went extensive chemo treatments. They then found more cancer on a follow up visit. So they started more chemo, and told him that it was not curable. He started chemo and has now developed pneumonia. He is having issues with breathing and coughing, and a lot of pain.

If he can just get through this pneumonia and resume chemo the hope is he can slow or stop the cancer growth enough to have some time left with his family.

Thank you to all who take a moment to keep Dale in your prayers.

I also have another good friend who also has cancer and is still struggling with his battle. He has a small deer farm and loves his animals. Please keep Richard in your prayers as well. Thank you.

Roger, they are both in my prayers. We just lost a very close freind to cancer, it is a horrible disease. It makes you appreciate every day that you have . I hope your cousin is getting the best of medical care. Our veterans deserve nothing less. God bless them all.

Roger,

Thank you for being humble and asking for help. There is power in prayer! My pap also struggles with cancer and does not have a lot of time left. He is not saved and very bitter towards God. My prayers are that he will see Jesus in me or one of our family members and soften his heart to him. Although my family has served the Lord for over 15years in ministries, Pap has never opened his heart to the truth. He lives just 200 yards from my house so I see him daily and try to encourage him. Please remember Larry (my Pap) as well in your prayers. It is hard to witness to those closest to you sometimes, but with God all things are possible. I will pray for Dale and Richard. Russ Jr

Oh Russ Jr. that is one of the hardest things is whenyou have a family member that is not a believer......God gave us the freedom of choice and unfortunately some of us make the wrong choice.....I too will pray for your Pap that he somehow finds the Lord and excepts him into his life............hang in the Russ and don't give up in your beliefs......Do you have a Pastor or Priest that would be willing to come over and talk with him......would he be open to it? If not just do your best to convince him to give up his life to the Lord.....I pray somehow you will be able to do that Russ........God Bless!!

I thank all of you very much. And I will of course pray for your Pap Russ Jr. I think he will in his own way accept God at the right time.

Don't give up Russ on your dad seing the light. Before I came around to the Lord I was about as far away as you could get. I was a bar hopping drug doing rabble rouser that didn't think I could have any fun if I wasn't high on something and thumping on somebody. My life was a joke and God let me go down my path of choice(which was definatley all down hill). When I finally hit bottom though He was there to help me up even though I had been cursing his name and defiently calling him out. He loves your dad and will definatley be there waitng on him to let him in to His peace. Have faith. Do not falter and it will be allright.Your dad is in our prayers and so are you. Rick

Roger, I too will pray for Dale and familiy/friends. In Rev:3:8 it talks about the church of Philadelphia. It is one of the three churches favored by Christ. The verse could apply to times such as Dale is experiencing. "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name". I pray that the Almighty will open the door to His Kingdom for His son, Dale. I pray that God will hear our cries and show mercy towards Dale and his loved ones and extend Dale's stay on this earth for the sake of those faithful to His Son, Yeshua, Jesus.

Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement guys. I had no idea that this thread would be so powerful and meaningful and that God could use it to build up his people so swiftly. DD, I know you don't what any credit for starting this thread but thank you for listening to God's calling and following him. I'm sure you will be blessed for your servants heart. Here is a couple songs that I've been listen to just about every day in the car. I hope you guys will be touched as I am as you listen to them. Jesus's embrace is so sweet...

Hi folks. I've been "home alone" for a week now as wife and kids are in Colorado (pronounced Calarada in Texas). They've gone to see one of our daughters whose husband in on his 2nd tour in Iraq as a combat soldier. Anyway..I've been in Genesis studying and something hit me like a hammer. Many of us know that the Hebrews of early started their new day at sunset. Actually, it was similar to what we today would compare to the Muslim 'call to prayer'. It was at this time of day that the father, or elder, of the house would say a prayer, ending one day and beginning another. Why did they start their new day at evening??? The creation story makes it clear. After each creation day God said "and the EVENING and morning were the first (and 2nd, 3rd, etc.) day. I personally believe the literal six days of creation. Can one believe all of the miracles in the scriptures such as walking on water, turning water into wine, holding back the sun, Christ's resurrection, ect. and still have a hard time giving God credit for this wonder also!!! Keep in mind just a few points supporting this belief. 1. if death entered the world because Adam and Eve sinned then there was NO death before this. Since fossils are remains of dead plants and ANIMALS they have to be considered part of what God meant when He said that man and the earth would suffer. 2. Too, God describes what will happen to the plants of the fields when He includes thorns as part of us falling from his grace. Since thorns have been found among fossilized remains we are left with two choices. The Word of God, or the opinion of man. Remember...Genesis is history. It is recorded as it happened. It is not subject to revision or conjecture. The people and places are real. 'no myths and no magic. Just the authority and power of the Almighty.
